Our Mission
Cultivate inner stability, and build a foundation for the will to live and self-reliance.
We help children and families facing economic hardship and emotional distress cultivate inner stability, care for their lives, and move toward self-reliance through Peace-In Practice (PIP) meditation training.
Why do I do this work?
Families struggling to get through today need the opportunity to prepare for tomorrow.
When faced with ongoing hardships, it becomes difficult to find the headspace to care for oneself or envision new possibilities. Both children and the caregivers looking after their families need time and learning opportunities to foster inner stability.
IBFF believes that such opportunities should not be reserved for a privileged few. We aim to help families facing financial hardship learn how to care for themselves, put those practices into action in their daily lives, and prepare for the future.
The Change We Seek
Inner Stability
Examining one’s own state and needs, and creating space to care for one’s life even in difficult situations.
Strength to Engage with Life
Helping to sustain meaningful choices and small actions.
A Foundation for Independence
Supporting continued engagement in learning and daily life, utilization of necessary opportunities and support, and preparation for the future.
Our Vision
A society where children and families facing economic hardship can uphold their dignity, access the learning and support they need, and shape their own futures.
The values we uphold
Dignity
We respect all participants as individuals with a voice and the right to choose regarding their own lives.
Accessibility
We strive to ensure that financial circumstances and religious backgrounds do not become barriers to learning.
Autonomy
We respect the pace and choices of participants; we do not impose specific beliefs, emotions, or experiences.
Action
We help translate education into actions that foster self-care and care for one’s family in daily life.
Responsibility
We clearly explain the scope and operation of our educational programs and aim to improve them based on participant feedback.
